Well our first week here hasn't been so good.
We were eating dinner and doing a load of laundry and heard a gurgle sound! Tim goes into the restroom and comes back and says " the showers are full of poo water". Lo and behold the sewer backed up. We called the property manager and couldn't get ahold of her. Tim had the owners daughters phone number so he called her. Rotorooter came out and took care of the problem and said it was a large clump of roots. The next day the carpet people came out and set up fans and a heating element and pulled up the carpet. There were cords all over the house, machines and tacks. We decided this was not a safe place for Tyler and we needed to go to a hotel. I got online and did it on priceline and Tim called the property manager about repayment.
When speaking with the property manager she tried to turn the situation on us! She said that she had told Tim of orders to get a plumber out to service the swamp cooler, fix the toilet and and apparently run the lines. We were never told to run the lines so we had not been persistant with the plumber. She then goes on to blame us and say had the lines been run this would not have happened and she would not pay our hotel and was lucky she wasn't charging us for the repairs. I should also mention that the property manager is the owners daughter...yeah.
We had a nice time at the hotel. Tyler loved going to the pool and swimming so there is the bright side to the weekend. We also went to Trader Joes and Sunflower Market to look around!
We got back to the house to find the bedroom at least 110 degrees! Upon looking around the candles had melted all over our dresser. Including our unity candle that can't be replaced. I was afraid the dresser was ruined but thanks to google I found what to do to get the wax safely off and it looks good as new.
The plumber came by yesterday and said he has orders to run the washer line and told me that EVEN HAD HE COME AND RUN THAT THE SEWER BACK UP WOULD HAVE HAPPENED REGARDLESS. Safe to say I was not a happy camper. I emailed the property manager about the situation and asked for hotel payment. I had a hard time sending it because I can't be rude/demanding etc. The house was also dirty when we arrived. The floors, sinks etc were all dirty and I let her know that wasn't really acceptable in the email as well. I haven't heard from her yet.
In the meantime we are all camping out in the living room until the bedroom is repaired.
I am hoping my posts will be happier than this in the coming weeks!!
